The Arete String Quartet was founded in September 2019 by young South Korean musicians studying music in Munich. Their first performance was broadcast by Korean radio, and although they debuted in the years marked by the pandemic, 2021 brought the group such important awards as first prize in the Prague Spring competition, the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation prize, two special prizes in the “Paolo Borciani” competition for the best performance of a piece by Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa, and the “Jeunesses Musicales” award. This year, the Arete String Quartet returned to Prague Spring with its own full-length programme.
