Ivo Kahánek - piano
Program: under discussion
Ivo Kahánek has the gift of immediately establishing an emotional bond with the audience and is able to use it properly in compositions from baroque to modern. However, his domain is the romantic repertoire. He is a graduate of the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, and has participated in important international courses. In 2004, he became the absolute winner of the Prague Spring international music competition and had already won awards in many important competitions here and abroad.
After successful debuts at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn and the Prague Spring, he received an invitation to perform at the BBC Proms festival in London's Royal Albert Hall, where in August 2007, under the baton of Jiří Bělohlávek, he performed Piano Concerto No. 4 "Incantation" by Bohuslav Martinů, broadcast live on television and by BBC radio and Czech station Vltava. In 2014, Sir Simon Rattle invited him to perform two performances with the Berlin Philharmonic; Ivo Kahánek thus became, after Rudolf Firkušný, the second Czech pianist in history to perform with this world-famous ensemble. Abroad, he is considered a specialist in the interpretation of Czech music. He has performed with countless renowned ensembles and conductors, collaborates with various soloists and chamber associations. His recordings have won a number of prestigious awards.
Selected evenings are presented by Mrs. P. Kuchtová.
