Miroslav Sekera
In 2002, he became the winner of the Johannes Brahms International Competition in Pörtschach, Austria. He was preceded by awards in major competitions in our country and abroad, including 1st prize in the Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Mariánské Lázně, 1st prize in the Academy of Performing Arts competition (YAMAHA Scholarship), 2nd prize in the International Adilia Alieva Piano Competition, held in Gaillard, France. In 2016, he received the prize of the music society "Salon de Virtuosi" in New York.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he performed on stages in Vienna (Konzerthaus, Musikverein), Washington (The Kennedy Center), Tokyo (Opera City Concert Hall) and many other cities around the world. He regularly collaborates with Czech Radio, leading Czech orchestras and festivals. His permanent artistic partners include violinist Josef Špaček, with whom he recorded a CD for Supraphon, and hornist Radek Baborák. In 2016, he made his debut in the Dvořák Hall of the Prague Rudolfinum as part of the "World Piano Works" series. He also performed at the Rudolf Firkušný Piano Festival. In 2019, he toured Japan with cellist Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and in the same year he performed as a soloist at the international festival in Karuizawa, Japan, where he performed Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2. In 2020, Supraphon released his solo CD with works by Franz Liszt and Bedřich Smetana, which won an award from the online magazine dedicated to classical music pizzicato.lu. Together with conductor Marko Ivanovič and the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, he received the Anděl Award for his recording of works by Czech composer Miloslav Kabeláč.
