Harlequin
A unique comedy performance in which a clarinetist plays the traditional harlequin character. He dances, plays the clarinet and uses pantomime to portray different characters and moods. Clarinetist Karel Dohnal performs this hour-long show all over the world. It is suitable for adults and children.

He is a laureate of many important international competitions (Prague Spring, Rome, Bayreuth, Ostend, Seville, London). He is a member of PhilHarmonia Octet, Trio Amadeus and the Prague State Opera Orchestra. For his last CD "Czech Music for Clarinet" he was nominated for the Anděl 2021 Award. He is also a teacher at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. His exceptional performances, in which he also uses his comedy, acting and movement talents, are met with great acclaim. Whether as Harlequin by composer Karlheinz Stockhausen or as the interpreter of Peacock Tales in Anders Hillborg's Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra. Karel Dohnal's recent notable performances include concerts with the Bamber Symphony and Jakub Hrůša (A. Copland), the Essen Philharmonic and Tomáš Netopil (A. Copland, W. A. Mozart), the Györse Philharmonic (R. Kubín), the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra (M. Kabeláč, O. Štochl, C. Debussy), Music of the Castle Guard and Police of the Czech Republic (V. Nelhýbel), Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava (A. Hillborg), Gera Philharmonic Orchestra (V. Kaprálová) and USC Symphony Orchestra (J. Françaix). He is an official player of the French clarinet manufacturer Selmer and the American firm D'Addario Woodwinds.
